Stargazing and Astrophotography for Beginners

  • 25 Oct 2017
  • 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
  • South Tynedale Railway, Alston

This event is part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival 21-29 October 2017, organised by the AONB Partnership and supported by Visit County Durham and the Science & Technology Facilities Council.

Stargazing is a hobby that can be as simple, or as complicated, as you want. Without any specialist equipment, you can enjoy the night sky. Binoculars bring fainter objects into view, and a telescope allows to you see deeper, and further into our universe. You can stop at that, but what if you want to capture those sights to amaze your friends and family? How do you do that with a smartphone, or bridge camera, or digital SLR? Come and find out with Martin Kitching from Northern Experience Wildlife Tours. This event will include stargazing opportunities – weather permitting. Wrap up warm and bring a red light torch (if you have one).

Cost: Adults - £5; Concessions - £2; Families - £10
